Our First Big Move South in Our New Home

After two months of non-stop boat projects, we finally felt ready to start moving south. We left our marina in Palm Coast and made a quick stop in St. Augustine, waiting for the right weather window to hop offshore and sail down to West Palm Beach, where we planned to meet up with some boater friends we first met in the Bahamas earlier this year.

While in St. Augustine, we squeezed in one last round of our favorite local food spots and caught a live music gig with some friends. It was a nice little farewell to a place that has felt like home for so long.

The weather lined up enough for us to be able to push south - we jumped offshore to Fort Pierce and then took the ICW the rest of the way south. We had an easy sail, and when we finally arrived in West Palm, we were greeted by a massive rainbow stretching across the sky. We anchored up in North Palm for the night before moving onto the mooring ball that would be home for the next few months, just south of Peanut Island.

It’s a weird feeling to have left St. Augustine and not knowing when (or if) we’ll be back. In a way, it feels like we could just step right back into our old life - like we could walk into our house, and everything would still be there, just as we left it. But that’s not reality. The house, the furniture, the stuff - it’s all gone. And our home? Well, it’s floating now.

But this is it. This is the life we signed up for. And in a way, it feels like this is the real beginning. West Palm Beach is our new home base for the next few months, and we’re excited to see what’s next.
